The Professional Photographers of Washington conference was amazing! Although we spent most of our time working this year, we were still able to sit in on parts of the speaker’s sessions and learn some great stuff from marketing to lighting. We got to learn from the nation’s leading professional wildlife, wedding, baby, family, and senior photographers. It was great to watch “the baby wrangler” in action and get a crying baby happy and ready for photos in seconds! We watched 2 days of print competition judging. We listened as judges from the Professional Photographers of America talked about each print. What was good and bad. Learning what not to do is as helpful as learning what to do! It inspired us to continue learning and become better photographers. The cool thing is most of the people we meet are from here in Washington (besides the speakers and judges). So unlike WPPI or Imaging USA you can actually see the friends you meet again! There are districts within the Professional Photographers of Washington and we meet once every couple months and go on photo walks and other fun stuff. If you like photography and want to learn more, this is the best organization to be involved with! Plus Ben and I will be there and you know you want to hang out with us :). There will be a Fall Conference in Gig Harbor and then the Spring Conference will be in Olympia next year. Ben is in charge of the fun auction and I will be the registration person again.
Ben was the Props Chair. Meaning he was in charge of doing what he does best: making stuff work. He is so great at that!
This was an early bird session. It started at 7 am, so only the really dedicated were awake after a fun night of partying the night before!
Thanks, Gavin for the photo! Here I am posing while we are taught about family photography.
