Weddings at Lake Chelan: Wedding Flowers

We first met Lynn Tuttle of Fleur de Lis Floral and Event Design when we attended the Lake Chelan Bridal show. From our first conversation I knew that I would love her! She is so creative and genuinely a nice person. She asked us to take the advertising photos for the 2012 Bridal Show. From that shoot on we built a friendship that has now turned into a partnership. I (Molly) will be helping Lynn with the 2012 Lake Chelan Bridal Show. Something that I thought would be fun to spotlight each vendor once a week with a short interview.  We hope that these posts will become a great resource to finding some amazing vendors in the Lake Chelan-Wenatchee area. So to start this series off, we thought it only fitting to start of with the founder of the event!

What are some things brides should look for when looking for a florist?Look for someone who’s work and style you like. Do they have an ear for what the bride has to say? Are they recommended by friends, family, or your venue? Can they balance your budget with your wish list?

What is something most people don’t know about the process of arranging wedding flowers? When choosing your wedding flowers, it’s best to use in-season blooms. While most favorite wedding flowers are generally available all year long. Roses, lilies and carnations are available year round. Field or garden flowers have their season. Take advantage of seasonal flowers. An Autumn wedding is perfect if you adore zinnias, dahlias, chrysanthemums, hydrangeas and a variety of foliage like maple leaves.

What makes you different than other florists?I have a passion for flowers and a LOVE of weddings! Whether it’s a casual or a large lavish wedding, a lot of thought, effort and personal service is put into each wedding. Each client gets gorgeous flowers for their big day!  [A note from Molly: I think that she thinks outside the box too! Feathers, fruits, and jewels…all unique finishes to flowers]

At what point in the planning process do you typically work with couples? 9-12 months in advance is ideal or as soon as the couple has their venue. I’m happy to meet with them via phone and email.

What are some arrangements that you don’t get requested often but you think look great for a wedding? Fall is a fabulous season for an “Antique Tuscan” design! Tones that are inspired by Tuscany. An ensemble of tall and low gilded vases filled with lush deep red, gold and earth tone blooms. Embellished with bunches of grapes, kumquats and foliage.
