7 years ago today we were married. This year is a little more special than others because the weather outside matches perfectly with our wedding day: freezing cold and lots of snow! Just how we like our December weather. We met in September and got engaged in June. We didn’t want and long engagement, but wanted our friends from college to be able to attend. So to make it easy on people, we decided to get married around Christmas when everyone would be home anyway. We were so thankful to have our wedding be a family affair. The church we married in was the same church my parents got married in and it was Ben’s family’s church at the time. Ben’s cousin is a florist- she supervised us making our own bouquets. My dad is a pastor and officiated the wedding (my brother, who was also a pastor, started the wedding off so my dad could walk me down the aisle). My friend Nate, flew in all the way from Geneva to play the piano for us. My good friends from college were the photographers: Blaine and Bethany Photography. Linda Haglund, my mom’s best friend from high school was invaluable to making our day run smoothly as the day-of coordinator. My dad also made the cheesecake (Ben’s not a fan of regular cake) for everyone too! We had so many people want to help with our wedding, it just showed us how blessed we were (and still are!) to have such wonderful people in our lives.
